REVIEW - Benefit cosmetics "Some Kind-A Gorgeous" (Medium)

Today I'm going to talk about another one of Benefit Cosmetics product. As mentioned in the post title I'm reviewing "Some Kind-A Gorgeous". I bought it online in shade MEDIUM.
To be honest i was pretty clueless about this product when i initially purchased it, but then i did a little bit of online research on what the product is all about and i got my hopes up...SIGH!
No, no wait it's not a bad product (Hey Benefit, i still love you...big fan! really...). It's not bad, but its not magical either. Well what's the verdict then, you may ask.
So let me first give you a general idea of what the product actually is and does, and then we can all go ahead and be judgmental.
It's a foundation faker. Yup! That's what it says on the packaging. And Oh! what a total sucker i am for all such witty and cute packaging...another SIGH!

WHAT IS IT
It's a foundation faker, which i think means that its not a foundation but pretends to be one. Obviously then it doesn't give the proper coverage of a foundation.

WHAT'S IT LIKE
This has a cream-to-powder formula which makes the application smooth and easy. It is supposed to leave a matte velvety finish on your face...powdery, not creamy.
The medium shade that Ive used looks peachy/orangeish but when blended on my skin, it sorta matches my warm skin tone without making me look pasty/clownish.
Ideally, its meant to support your natural skin tone rather than covering it up.
Comes in 3 shades only - light, medium and deep. Hmm.

WHAT DO I THINK
First off i was never too fond of using foundations until the day i realized that I'm not a teenager anymore and my skin actually needs it. So, i bought this after experimenting with few other real foundations. And my first thought was..."OK, I'm not impressed".
It smells like crayons...seriously, WHY?! That's already a big put off for me. I don't want anything smelling like that on my face. Still, i decided to give it a go. I always use my fingers for applying any kind of foundation, works better for me. Once it was on my face it did give me an evened out smooth look, reducing a bit of redness on my face. It didn't conceal any of my skin imperfections. Maybe, this is something more similar to a BB cream with a powdery finish?!
I would say this is no shortcut to gorgeous skin (as implied on the packaging).
It's definitely for people with little or no skin issues.
And you know what, this is one pricey product i can easily skip for another miraculous Benefit product.

Have you used "Some Kind-A Gorgeous"? Would love to hear what you think of it.

REVIEW- Benefit Cosmetics Watt's Up!

The Benefit Watt's Up highlighter had been on my wish list for a long time until i finally ordered it online. And i was seriously over joyed when it arrived at my doorstep.
It's a Benefit product, so of course its design is out of the box. The light bulb pun on the packaging brings a smile to my face...and believe it or not that's also how Benefit wins my heart, mind and wallet every time.
Since I'm a newbie to the makeup world (I know, crazy right?!) I wasn't sure how this highlighter would work on my skin tone, but let me tell you it works wonderfully. I'm absolutely head over heels in love with it.

Watt's up is a cream-to-powder highlighter which comes with a round little spongy blender to smooth out/blend the highlighter into a diffused sheen. Although I have experienced that this sponge tends to rub the product off rather than blending it. Just use your fingertips and you will be fine! it gives a better effect.
*finger tips* Best makeup tool ever!
The powdery creamy texture glides on easily on the skin and doesn't mess with the foundation/base if already applied. I love the way it creates a gorgeous noticeable glow on my medium skin tone. It's a champagne shimmer that's supposed to flatter a wide range of complexions. Plus, its not too reflective or shimmery, which is great as i don't want people squinting their eyes when they look at me.
I think the high price tag on this is pretty justified for the results it produces. It will definitely be a staple in my makeup collection.
I haven't yet tried this on bare skin. Have you? Let me know your thoughts.

Here's how and where i apply it to achieve a beautiful glow:
1. On my temples
2. Just above the cheekbone
3. Inner corner of the eyes
4. Just a dab in the middle of the chin
Also, try applying Watt's Up under your foundation...gives a more subtle natural glow.

Have fun with it :)

REVIEW - L'OREAL True Match Super Blendable Blush

A blush, eye liner and lip gloss! My top 3 make up products that do wonders for me in a jiffy. Especially on a Sunday morning when I wake up...no, let me correct myself "when I'm woken up by my hungry crying baby"...so, i was saying that on one of those lazy mornings when I'm just not in the mood to whip up breakfast, i convince my better half to take me out for some coffee and muffins, or waffles or super oily halwa puri! So I wash up, sweep on some blush n gloss with a smile and i am ready for some morning indulgence.
Now getting to the makeup talk, I've tried few blushes in my life, some i love, some i don't.
Recently i got my hands on the  L'OREAL True Match Super Blendable Blush (warm) in shade SUBTLE SABLE W5-6.
Of course, I bought it online :) and im glad i did.
To start with, the packaging is nothing extra ordinary, but i like the fact that it comes with a mirror. There's also a brush in it which is too small and no good, sadly. I use my nice big round brush anyway.

According to L'OREAL Paris website this blush's true to life shades precisely match your skin tone/undertone leaving you with the most natural flush of color imaginable.
By the way this Super Blendable Blush is available in 12 different shades.

Well, i agree. For my skin tone, this shade really does add a pretty flush to my face. It has a nice soft peachy sparkle to it which gives that healthy glow effect to my skin.

If i swatch it on my fingertips it looks like a peachy matte shade, but when I apply it with a brush it goes on almost sheer and gives my cheeks a subtle sheen. The color is build-able, which is ideal for me. I can wear it easily both daytime and evening.
In the picture above, i swatched it on my hand, blended it with my finger and that's the kind of effect I get.
In my opinion, SUBTLE SABLE works great on medium/olive skin tones with warm undertones.

So, hey all you beautiful medium/olive toned girls out there...what do you think? Feel free to share your favourite blushes :)

My Top 7 Summer Must Haves!

1. NEUTROGENA Gentle Purifying Scrub

For all skin types
It claims to cleanse away dirt, pollution and dulling impurities 'with antioxidants'.
I have combination skin in summers and this scrub has been working really well for me. Skin feels clean and refreshed after using it. I use it twice a week, you shouldn't exfoliate your facial skin more than that...Just gently scrub for a few minutes and wash away.

2. BOURJOIS So Laque Nail Color

Shade: Beige Glamour - 27
I love this peachy pink nail color. I think its the perfect summer color, not too glaring and not too soft. It goes on nice and smooth, no application issues here.

3. MUA Clear Mascara

Shade 1
For some strange reason im not a big fan of mascaras, but clear mascaras are my absolute favourite. It give my lashes a definition, uplift and shine without layering them with any color that becomes annoying to get off my lashes later on. They are also good for taming unruly brows. The clear gel applies smoothly and its non sticky. Ideal for daywear.

4. ARTDECO Perfect Colour Lipstick

Shade 23
This lipstick has a creamy texture, but not very long lasting.
My skintone is medium with yellow undertone and i feel not ALL pink shades go well with my complexion. But this shade looks good both in daylight (see lipstick swatch above) and in the evening lights. For me its an everyday color that goes nicely with my almost natural makeup look.

5. RIMMEL Special Eyes Precision Eye Liner

Shade: Rich Brown
This is my another absolute favorite. Its a smooth textured, comfortable to wear all day kinda eye pencil. I use it on my upper lash line and on the corners. Smudge it just a bit and it gives a really nice soft look.

6. CLINIQUE Powder Blush

Shade: Sunset Glow
This is my favourite blush so far. Its a mid tone coral bronze shade...blends well and gives a natural radiant glow to my cheeks. Perfect for both day and night.

7. MUA Lip Balm

Shade: Kiss Me
I wear lip balms like everyday, all the time. I bought MUA love hearts lip balm online like most of my other makeup products. So i had to take a guess and picked this color. Anddd it turned out perfect. Its a moisturizing formula, but not sticky *phew!* with a hint of color. Kiss Me is a sheer red jelly like color. Gives a nice pop to the lips all throughout the day while keeping my lips moisturized...definitely a plus point.

REVIEW - Soap & Glory Hand Food

Although I live in a city that’s super humid, my hands and feet tend to get very dry even in summers. But, seriously the idea of putting on a moisturizer in this summer heat can be icky.
So I've always been on the look out for the perfect cream and now i think i've finally found a winner. A perfect cream/moisturizer for me would be the one that’s not greasy, smells fabulous and makes my hands and feet velvety soft. And this is all what Soap & Glory Hand Food is all about.

For all those of you who are thinking about purchasing it or aren't sure, let me give you all the good reasons to GO FOR IT!

Although this is not my first Soap & Glory product, I've used their Heel Genius last winter. I just couldn't resist purchasing the Hand Food too when I saw it available online. (I'm quickly becoming an online shopping addict. Yikes!)
So, yes I got this from an online store and was super excited when I opened the pack and tried It on right away. Instant LOVE. I've been using it everyday, all the time since then and I'm definitely happy with the feel of my scented soft hands.

This hand cream blends ands soaks into the skin quite well but not too quickly. Like it says on the tube it is a 'non-greasy hydrating hand cream' which i couldn't agree with more. I only need to use a little pea sized amount of Hand Food each time to get the results I want. The fragrance is a sweet scent, but not too overpowering, with a bit of a fruity, floral touch to it.
I actually don’t mind that perfume-like fragrance because when I'm rushing around cooking, doing chores and keeping my 3 year old happy, I can just quickly rub this hand cream on and smell all nice without the extra effort of rummaging through my dresser drawer for my perfume.
Their pretty pink packaging is also a plus point of course. In time, you will realise that I love all things pretty and colorful!

P.S, best time to apply this cream is of course at bedtime...it feels like a quick at-home manicure :)
